This is the last call for participants to enrol on the ‘Responsible Reporters’ online journalism course in Farsi, aimed at helping journalists, as our current funding will expire shortly.
The course has been specially written by international journalism and media training professionals for Iranian journalists, and is now being offered in both English and Farsi. Please note that this material is only for Iranian journalists worldwide, and unfortunately we can’t accept non-Iranians on the course.
The course covers the fundamentals of impartial news reporting – from the basics of news through interviewing and ethics to investigative reporting and keeping safe in hazardous environments. This course is especially suited to the needs of working journalists who haven’t had the chance to attend formal training and will take around 4 to 6 hours to complete.
The material is suitable for journalists working in all media types, as well as bloggers/citizen journalists and has been created for an Iranian audience. It can be followed by anyone with access to a computer and the internet, and there is one assignment for trainees to complete – feedback will be provided by an experienced Iranian journalist based outside of Iran. There is no charge to participate in the course, which is being funded by international non-profit organisation Internews, but we do need to hear from potential participants as soon as possible. We encourage applications from anyone, whatever their gender, ethnicity or political beliefs.
Anyone interested in taking part should write in English or Farsi, giving a brief description of their professional skills and experience, to responsible.reporters[at]gmail.com
We understand that journalists based in Iran may wish to participate anonymously or using a nom de plume, but we will need a working email address in order to provide access to the system.
