The Training Station, in collaboration with Internews, is now offering two online courses in Farsi (Persian), aimed at helping journalists and communicators to develop their professional skills. Both courses have been specially written by international journalism and media training professionals.
The two courses are:
- Responsible reporting: the fundamentals of impartial news reporting – from the basics of news through interviewing and ethics to investigative reporting and keeping safe in hazardous environments. This course is especially suited to the needs of working journalists who haven’t had the chance to attend formal training.
- Media as a tool for change: how media can be used to encourage positive behaviour change, for example using spots, public service announcements, dramas and documentary formats. This course is aimed at those already in the media and those in organisations who see the potential of using the media to bring about change.
The courses can be followed by anyone with access to a computer and the internet, and are expected to take 6 to 10 hours to complete. There are a number of exercises which will be assessed by specialists.
We hope to link up trainees with an expert mentor who can give them further professional advice and support.
There is no charge to participate in either course, but we do need to hear from potential participants as soon as possible. We encourage applications from anyone, whatever their gender, ethnicity or political beliefs.
Anyone interested in taking part should write in English or Farsi, giving a brief description of their professional skills and experience, to firstname.lastname@example.org
We understand that journalists may wish to participate anonymously or using a nom de plume, but we will need a working email address in order to provide access to the system.
